Predictions for the 2019 Irish Greyhound Derby

The number of greyhounds that are still involved in the 2019 running of the annual Irish Greyhound Derby is being whittled down during each heat of course, but there are still enough runners involved in that popular event for you to hunt around and bag plenty of betting value.

Two bookies that are certainly worth checking out for some of the best odds are the Irish Greyhound Debry sponsor, that being Boylesport and the Coral betting site too, much more so the latter if you fancy backing any greyhound each-way.

I say that for if you place an each-way bet today with Coral they will pay you out to four places and at one quarter of the win odds if your greyhound finished in the first four places of thee final, and you will of course get paid out at full odds as well if your selected greyhound wins that final too.

Boylesport haven’t been afraid of dipping into their vast pockets for the prize money for this Shelbourne Park based event, for in total some €300,000 in being offered as prize money and the winning owner will bag some €140,000 of that prize fund, for reference all being well the final is being run on the 21st of September.

First and Second Favourites

The current favourite but only just is Magical Bale and as for what odds are being offered well I have seen bookies offering 11/2 however some of them are only prepared to offer punters odds of 5/1 so do shop around if you fancy the chance of that current early favourite to win.

The second favourite, but once again only just is Lenson Bocko and as that greyhound is currently being touted at odds of 6/1 but as it was being offered at over double those odds last week, those odds being 14/1 it is certainly a greyhound that has been attracting plenty of support recently from punters.

Other Fancied Greyhounds

I will now give you an overview of some of the other runners, any of which could and the spoils in the final, the first of them is Killmacdonagh which has been backed down to odds of around 7/1, however those odds are likely to drop even further if it makes it through the next round.

Grangeview Ten is one of two runners that is currently chalked up at odds of 8/1, with the other one being Lenson Blinder, then the odds jump up to 10/1 on Ballymac Cooper and Run Happy but the is much more each-way betting value on offer on runners such as Mucky Brae and Slippy Cian for they are both up for grabs right now at odds of 12/1.

As for any other runners that may just be worth a small each-way bet on, well there are some including Droopys Pension who is not without a chance despite its odds being around the 16/1 mark right now.
